Reba McEntire Imitates Cardi B, Calls Out Lack of Female Nominees at 2019 ACM Awards

For the 16th time in her game-changing career, Reba McEntire assumed hosting duties at the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards.

Taking the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena looking as ageless as ever, McEntire dismissed fears that she might be getting tired of hosting the ACM Awards.

“I’m a woman in the music business and we don’t have time for tired,” she said. “Now let’s get this show started before I need a nap.”

While Reba was characteristically affable as she pulled off cute gags with Luke Bryan (about his many No. 1s) and Kelly Clarkson (about her insanely busy schedule) in the audience, she did take a moment for a pointed sideswipe at the ACM Awards.

Noting that it had recently snowed in Las Vegas, McEntire quipped, “It was so cold it froze us women out for entertainer of the year.” This year, five acts are up for the major honor — and none of them are women. Even so, she pointed out it probably wasn’t troubling at least one female country artist.

“But that didn’t bother Kacey Musgraves, because she’s been too busy carrying all her Grammys around,” Reba joked.

She also busted out her Cardi B impersonation, which she’d previously tested out on social media. “I do have a song we can do together,” Reba said of a potential Cardi/Reba collab. “There’s no ‘U’ in Oklahoma, and that’s oKURRRR with me.”

The ACM Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions, a division of Valence Media, the parent company of the Billboard-Hollywood Reporter Media Group.
