As we await the arrival of Life Is Eazi Vol 2: Lagos to London, Mr Eazi has generously given us a number of jams. This year alone, he has collaborated with several different artists, dipping his feet into a wide range of genres and tipping us off to the eclectic project that is to come.
On his own tracks, he has enlisted a vast array of international artists — Giggs on “London Town’, Mo-T on “Property” — but most of the Mr Eazi bangers we can list from this year are other artists’ songs which he has made better with his presence.
Whether he’s at the forefront of the track, or simply building on what the core artist has already done, Mr Eazi sure knows how to do every single feature justice. So, we decided to rank the top eight Mr Eazi features of 2018 so far.
8. “Bad Vibe” — M.O & Lotto Boys
Most of Mr Eazi’s features this year have given much credit to his nickname, ‘Uncle London’. This track with M.O, a British girl group, is extremely radio-friendly, and deservedly became something of an anthem over the summer in the UK!
7. “Suited (SynX Remix)” — Shekhinah
South African singer, Shekhinah’s “Suited” was one of 2017’s most impressive songs, and the Mr Eazi-assisted SynX Remix, which infused the original with a very welcome afropop bounce, manages to be even more interesting and memorable.
6. “Immigration” —Riton & Kah-Lo
On “Immigration”, one of the standout tracks off Grammy-nominated dance duo, Riton & Kah-Lo’s debut joint project, Foreign Ororo, Mr Eazi ditches his signature singing style and adopts Kah-Lo’s stolid rap cadence, resulting in a fantastic collab.
5. “Let Me Live” — Rudimental & Major Lazer ft. Anne-Marie
Mr Eazi’s presence is subtle but instrumental on the Anne-Marie led “Let Me Live”. Her vocals are powerful on its own, but the support of the bass in Mr Eazi’s voice gives the chorus the volume it needs, and his third verse adds extra dynamism to the already vibrant track.
4. “Take Over” — Da Beatfreakz ft. Seyi Shay & Shakka
Da BeatFreakz have come through with some amazing collaborations in the past, and the sex-positive “Take Over” ranks among the very best. As the beat-masters lay down the afropop backing, Mr Eazi, Seyi Shay and Shakka all deliver, producing this contagious hit.
3. “Love Struck” — WSTRN ft. Tiwa Savage
Alongside Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi delivers a top-notch vocal performance on WSTRN’s fantastic “Love Struck”. The vocals on this track are quality, especially Haile, who plays with different keys on the chorus before Mr Eazi’s standout hook.
2. “Black Madonna” — Lady Leshurr
It seems like an unlikely pairing, but Mr Eazi’s truly stuns on Lady Leshurr’s grandiose “Black Madonna”, delivering an unexpectedly solid rap verse, which more than complements the up-and-comer’s dominating grime performance.
1. “Tied Up” — Major Lazer ft. RAYE & Jake Gosling
The song begins with Mr Eazi’s crisp voice, arguably the best vocal performance we’ve heard from him in like ever. We really haven’t got a bad word to say against this bright and spirited song, other than that we wish it were longer.
